Amanda Holden has shared a powerful five-word message of support for her colleague Jamie Theakston after he revealed his cancer diagnosis. The 53-year-old Heart Radio presenter took to Instagram to reassure her co-star, writing: 'YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS.'
Jamie, 53, has been absent from his Heart Radio show with Amanda for several weeks after listeners noticed his voice had changed. Following surgery, doctors discovered a lesion on his vocal cords, which was confirmed as stage 1 laryngeal cancer. In a statement on Instagram, Jamie said: 'The prognosis is very positive and I'm hoping to be back with you in October.'
Amanda posted a photo of herself and Jamie in the studio, writing: 'Our wonderful Jamie has been diagnosed with stage one laryngeal cancer. His prognosis is very good and he has an incredible team around him. Jamie, we love and miss you and look forward to seeing you very soon.'
Speaking on air, Amanda struggled to contain her emotions, branding Jamie a 'King'. Co-host JK added: 'Jamie has an amazing team that are going to get this sorted. He's going to be OK.' Jamie had earlier told listeners: 'I have cancer – but cancer doesn't have me.'
