Olympic Pole Vaulter Alysha Newman Pursues Victoria's Secret Modeling After Ban
Alysha Newman Targets Victoria's Secret Modeling After Ban

Olympic pole vaulter Alysha Newman has announced a new career venture as a Victoria's Secret model after being banned from her sport for 20 months due to missed drug tests. The 31-year-old Canadian athlete and OnlyFans star was suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) after failing to complete three drug tests over a 12-month period.

New Path in Modeling

Newman revealed on Tuesday that she is using her time away from track and field to pursue modeling opportunities. She received an invitation from Victoria's Secret to attend an in-person casting call for the chance to walk in the 2026 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. The annual event is scheduled to return in the fall, following the 2025 show that aired in October. The company announced a nationwide casting call last month, with applications closing on May 28, 2026.

The Team Canada star shared a clip of her audition on TikTok, tagging the brand and writing, "See you soon." Newman won bronze for Canada at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she drew criticism after twerking to celebrate her victory. She has also competed in two world championship finals and earned gold and bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games.

Previous Modeling and Brand Partnerships

Outside of athletics, Newman has modeled before for lingerie label Agent Provocateur and has launched partnerships with brands such as Nike and Swiss watch brand Rado. Her suspension has opened the door for her to explore new professional avenues.

Details of the Suspension

The AIU stated that Newman was unavailable for an unannounced doping test in February last year and then missed two more tests in August. The three failures constitute a violation of the sport's global anti-doping rules, which require athletes to provide a one-hour window each day when they are available for sample collection.

Newman explained to the AIU that she missed the February test because she could not find her car keys. She did not provide a reason for missing the second test but told investigators that she had to postpone the third test because she was filming a television game show. Although she submitted a sample later that day, officials determined she had violated the rules.

Her suspension will expire in August 2027. The punishment was reduced to 20 months from the standard two years because the AIU noted that Newman had decided to end her career. However, she has not yet announced her retirement plans, and her future in the sport remains unclear. In her Victoria's Secret audition, she mentioned that she recently moved to Los Angeles amid her suspension.
