Alison Hammond has shared a new update on Instagram, hours after posting a video from a hospital bed. The TV star, who was suddenly pulled from Friday's This Morning, was feeling "unwell" before leaving the studios and heading to hospital for tests in the afternoon.
Returning to social media the following morning, Alison has since suggested that she's feeling better after re-posting a compilation of her funniest on-screen moments. "Just cheering myself up," she wrote on her Instagram story on Saturday.
Alison's message to fans
Alison, 51, confirmed less than 24 hours earlier that she was okay after exiting the This Morning stage during a live broadcast. Addressing fans in a video, the presenter said: "Hello, my lovies, I know you're all worried about me. Honestly, I am fine, first of all, but I'm getting my old ticker checked out.
"I had a little bit of heart palpitations, and now I'm getting it all checked out, but I think I'm OK. I'm hoping it was just a little panic attack or something like that.
"I'm so sorry I left you," she continued. "I never normally would do that; I would never leave a TV show, but as you know, I wasn't very well. But I'm going to be alright, the doctors are so lovely, and they're checking me out, and hopefully everything's going to be fine."
Support from co-stars and fans
Following Alison's health scare, the TV star has been inundated with sweet messages of support. "Wishing Alison Hammond a speedy recovery. Such a lovely, fun lady," wrote Allo Allo actress Vicki Michelle. "Fab memory when we did a Xmas event. Get well soon, @AlisonHammond @thismorning."
Fans have also sent their best to Alison. "Bless her. Love Alison Hammond. Get well soon," tweeted one. "Aww, I'm glad she's doing better. Get well soon, Alison Hammond," penned a second. "Sorry to hear that about Alison Hammond today. She's a lovely person, and she must have got a terrible fright @ITV," commented a third.
What happened on Friday
Things took a turn on Friday morning when Alison appeared to experience palpitations on the ITV show. During a conversation with Dr Scott Miller and Dermot O'Leary, Alison seemed visibly uncomfortable before walking out of frame with her hand over her chest. She could then be heard leaving the studio.
After ITV cut to an ad break, the programme returned with an announcement from Dermot. "Welcome back to This Morning. Ali is feeling just a little unwell, so she's just had to duck out. Hopefully, she'll be back in a sec," he said.
But, as Alison's absence continued, Dermot issued another update. "Ali's feeling a little unwell, so I'll be here for the rest of the show," he later added.
