Alan Brazil has returned to the talkSPORT breakfast show after nearly four months off air recovering from a life-saving liver transplant. The broadcaster revealed he spent eight hours in surgery, during which his heart briefly stopped.
Return to the Airwaves
Brazil's breakfast show resumed on Wednesday, August 5, with him back behind the mic. He is joined by former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor and ex-Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour, while Scotland legend Ally McCoist is on a break after his World Cup commentary stint.
Health Update and Gratitude
Speaking about his health, Brazil said: "I am on massive medication. I was shocked as anyone when they said 'they're doing it now'. Touch wood, it looks like I've got a good one." He added that he avoids going out and stays out of the sun due to his medication, and although he's not 100 per cent, "even if I don't get any better it's a bonus. I was a goner."
Brazil described the experience as remarkable, explaining he was taken straight to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, where he had cancer in his liver. He credited the "brilliant" team there, saying, "I can't thank the people at Cambridge enough."
