The mother of Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, Caroline Peaty, has been uninvited from her son's upcoming wedding to Holly Ramsay, marking a dramatic turn in a relationship that once appeared warm and affectionate.
A Once Close Bond
Just months before their relationship reportedly soured, Caroline Peaty publicly celebrated her son's fiancée on social media. For Holly Ramsay's birthday, Caroline posted a heartfelt Instagram message that hinted at the families' previous closeness.
She wrote: "Happy birthday Holly (and Jack), have a wonderful day x We are looking forward to the year ahead and to you officially becoming part of our family x We have shared some wonderful times already and here is to many more x."
Accompanying the message was a carousel of photos featuring happy moments of Holly with Adam and his young son, George. Holly herself responded warmly at the time, commenting: "Thank you xx."
The Beginning of the Fallout
The first public sign of trouble emerged when Caroline was excluded from Holly's lavish hen weekend at Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire in the lead-up to the Christmas wedding at Bath Abbey.
The celebration was attended by Holly's mother, Tana Ramsay, her sisters Megan and Tilly, and family friend Victoria Beckham. Notably, Adam's sister Bethany was invited, while his mother was not.
A source told The Daily Mail that tensions between the Ramsay and Peaty families have been building for months, describing the situation as "a clash of lifestyles." The source added: "The Ramsays are rich and like the finer things in life. The Peatys are much more down-to-earth."
Escalation and Heartbreak
The situation reportedly worsened when Caroline bought a dress for the wedding, only to be told that the couple did not approve of her choice. Adam and Holly offered to buy her another outfit and planned a shopping trip to Bath, but this never happened due to train disruptions.
Following the fallout, Caroline shared a cryptic post that seemed to reference the growing tensions with her son. It read: "The ones I love are the people who hurt me the most. When you love someone, you protect them from the pain, you don't become the cause of it."
This stands in stark contrast to her earlier social media posts, which were filled with pride for both Adam and Holly, frequently celebrating his swimming achievements and their relationship.
