Channel 4 has confirmed that brand new episodes of 24 Hours in Police Custody will return for a two-part special titled The Ambush, airing on Sunday, August 30 at 9pm.
The landmark documentary series, first released in 2014, has become a firm favourite among viewers and continues to receive widespread praise. Fans have been calling for new instalments, and the Channel 4 Documentaries Facebook page teased updates over the past week before finally announcing the broadcast date.
Two-Part Special Focuses on Real-Life Investigation
The new episodes will follow a real-life police investigation after a 17-year-old boy was left critically injured on the roadside. Detectives work against the clock to seek justice, with Channel 4 documentaries posing the question: "Was it a random attack, or something more sinister?"
Fans reacted with excitement on social media. One person wrote: "It’s about time, quality tv viewing this …." Another said: "Been waiting for another one forever." A third commented: "Hopefully the first in a long series of these!!!"
Viewers Call It the 'Best Ever' Programme
One viewer described the show as "the best ever" programme, while another wrote: "Absolutely LOVE this programme." A sixth fan stated: "My favourite tv show bar none!" One person echoed: "Superb programme. Never enough episodes in the series."
The new episodes follow earlier releases this year that left fans "horrified" as the series delved into harrowing investigations. Episodes can also be streamed on Channel 4 online.
24 Hours in Police Custody returns on Sunday, August 30.
