David Dickinson, the familiar face behind BBC's Bargain Hunt and ITV's Dickinson's Real Deal, remains active in the public eye at 84 years old. The antiques expert has been a television staple since 2000, but his personal life is equally noteworthy.
Marriage to Lorne Lesley
Dickinson has been married to former cabaret performer Lorne Lesley since 1968. The couple met at a Manchester nightclub in the 1960s, and Dickinson has often credited her with sparking his interest in antiques. He adopted Lorne's two children, Robert and Katrina, from a previous marriage.
In a 2017 interview with The Mirror, Dickinson said of his wife: "Lorne lets me think I'm the master of my own home. Any girls who know what they're doing lets their man think they're in charge, but we know we're not really." Lorne, who hails from Tiger Bay like Shirley Bassey, has appeared on programmes such as All Star Mr and Mrs and The Good Old Days.
Grandson's Dragons' Den Success
Dickinson and his wife are doting grandparents to Aim'ee, Lauren, Miles, and Finley. Their grandson Miles made history on Dragons' Den as the youngest participant ever to successfully secure backing from a Dragon. Finley also appeared alongside David on Big Star's Little Star.
Career Highlights
Dickinson fronted Bargain Hunt for four years from 2000 to 2004, then moved to ITV to present Dickinson's Real Deal in 2006. He shows no signs of retiring and continues to engage with audiences through his antiques expertise.
