The actress shared a positive review from Collider on her Instagram Stories, which praised her performance, but has not commented further on the controversy.
The film, which earned over £30 million in its opening weekend, has been criticised for downplaying its central theme of domestic violence. Lively, who starred as Lily Bloom and served as a producer, has been accused of steering the adaptation towards romantic comedy territory rather than an informative drama.
Reports suggest a creative rift between Lively and director Justin Baldoni, with Lively allegedly commissioning her own cut of the film. Her promotional efforts, including launching a haircare brand during the press tour and resurfaced controversial interviews, have also drawn criticism.
In response to the backlash, Lively's co-star Brandon Sklenar released a statement defending the cast and urging against online negativity. 'Vilifying the women who put so much of their heart and soul into making this film because they believe so strongly in its message seems counterproductive,' he wrote on Instagram.
