The Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales has become more profitable in the United States than the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Philanthropies, according to recent financial reports.
US donations surge
The foundation received £8.7 million from its US office in 2025, according to the Trust’s financial statements. This is nearly £4 million more than the £4.9 million it handed out in 2024.
The increase accounts for 44 percent of the foundation's total reported income of £19.6 million in 2025. The funds come from the 'American Friends' branch, a separately controlled entity established in 2011.
Charitable activities
The foundation retained £10.6 million as of December 2025 after spending £16.5 million on charitable activities. These included William’s Homewards initiative to end homelessness and his United for Wildlife campaign against illegal wildlife trafficking.
In contrast, Archewell Philanthropies recorded just £1.93 million in revenue in 2024, a decline from £4.23 million the previous year. Harry and Meghan founded the organisation after quitting royal roles in 2020, naming it after their son Archie.
Harry's charity challenges
Harry stepped down as patron of Sentebale, a charity he founded in 2006, due to a deteriorated relationship with its chairman. Sentebale is now suing Harry, citing 'operational disruption and reputational harm'.
