Wil Anderson, the older brother of Manchester City midfielder Elliot Anderson, won his Misfits Boxing match against Luke Dyson with a fourth-round stoppage. The 25-year-old's victory came hours before his sibling's side face Manchester United in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
Brother's support from afar
Wil rose to prominence after appearing on Love Island in June 2024. Since then, he has taken up boxing, with Elliot cheering him on from a distance. The City midfielder shared a photo of Wil's celebrations on his Instagram story, writing: "Let's go bro." He also posted footage of the moment the referee stopped the contest.
The bout was part of the undercard ahead of the Misfits headline fight between Jordan McCann and Big Stacks, known as the 'UK's hardest man'.
Next challenge lined up
Following the win, Wil called out American Josh Brueckner as he targets the cruiserweight crown. Trainer Bj Flores backed the potential fight, posting on Instagram: "After this we can set up @wilandersonn vs @joshbrueckner." Anderson replied: "Ready for all the smoke."
The clash with Dyson was Anderson's third outing. He lost his debut to Jordan Banjo but has since beaten Jake Cornish and now Dyson.
Elliot's season so far
Wil supported Elliot throughout the summer, cheering on England in America during the World Cup alongside his fiancée Uma Jammeh, whom he met on Love Island. Elliot became a key part of Thomas Tuchel's squad before the tournament, starting seven of England's eight matches.
While in America, Elliot completed a then record-breaking £116 million transfer from Nottingham Forest to City. This campaign, he has started all three Premier League fixtures and came on as a second-half substitute in Tuesday's Champions League opener against Porto. City will aim to preserve their flawless winning streak in the derby.
