Vernon Kay has opened up about a "weird" family realisation while discussing taking his daughters to a festival, recalling his own wilder days and hoping they don't have too much fun.
Reading Festival Memories
The BBC Radio 2 host, 52, was chatting with colleague Ellie Brennan when he reminisced about his first Reading Festival in the early 1990s. He revealed that dropping off his and Tess Daly's daughters, Phoebe and Amber, at the event felt like a "full circle moment".
"It was my first festival, the Reading Festival, back in the very, very early '90s - 1991, 1992, or something like that - and then dropping your kids off," he said.
'Go and Enjoy Yourself, But Not Too Much'
Ellie responded: "Aww! That must be a nice moment," to which Vernon admitted: "It's weird, it's weird. Because you remember what you got up to, you're like, 'go and enjoy yourself, but not too much'."
Ellie joked about the washing coming back, but Vernon was quick to assert: "I don't mind that because I like ironing!"
University Open Days
It comes months after Vernon took time off from Radio 2 to take his youngest daughter, Amber, to university open days. He explained in June: "I'm not in tomorrow. I'm having Friday off. Because I'm going to university open days. I think the time is right for me to step away from broadcasting and go back into further education."
He added: "No, I'm joking. I'm taking our youngest to open days around universities and I'm really looking forward to it. It's an exciting time in life, and also I get to hold her hand."
