Ulrika Jonsson celebrated her 59th birthday on Sunday (August 16) with a defiant Instagram post, urging her followers to live for themselves and not for others. The former Gladiators host shared a lengthy message reflecting on life, ageing, and her health.
Defiant Message to Followers
In her post, Jonsson admitted she is "exhausted by the pressure to optimise" her life due to the fast-paced nature of the world. She encouraged her followers to follow her lead and prioritise their own well-being over pleasing others.
Sharing snaps of herself from childhood to the present, including photos with her children Cameron, Bo, Martha, and Malco, she wrote: "I concentrate on my inner peace, kindness, empathy and generosity. Yes, that makes me a better person because I’m actually remembering to LIVE for myself."
Reflections on Ageing and Health
Jonsson described turning 59 as "a privilege," adding that it has brought "wisdom, strength, gratitude, curiosity and positivity." She noted some "unexpected medical interventions" but said she still felt "blessed."
She also addressed her sobriety, now nearly two years sober, calling it a "spiritual awakening." She admitted in an interview: "I went from not wanting to live to now wanting to squeeze every moment out of my life."
Living for Herself
In her post, she insisted she was not a "trendsetter" or a "viral creator," and finished: "The only man in my life has 4 legs and a corkscrew tail. I’ve lived longer than I thought I would and life continues to bring its challenges but I’m so utterly grateful to be here. Who’d have thought it would be possible to turn your life around − turn yourself, your mindset and your soul around. Ain’t life grand? Roll on 60."
