More than a third of UK adults consider themselves football experts, with 14% convinced they know more about the game than former Manchester United defender and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville. A study by Play Nimbus found that people also believe they outrank Roy Keane, Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara in football knowledge.
Regional confidence
London leads the nation in football confidence, where 44% of residents rate their knowledge above average. Aberdeen and Oxford round out the top three most self-assured football cities in the UK.
When asked how they developed their football knowledge, 19% said watching live matches at the stadium taught them the most about the game.
