Laura Zachary, a 36-year-old from Yorkshire, has sparked debate by declaring she loves to 'serve' her husband, Zion, and believes that 'submitting' is what good wives should do.
In her online videos, Laura says her job is to 'keep him happy' and that women who don't embrace traditional roles are 'lazy'. She also claims that 'women aren't actually designed to have to make decisions' and describes women without partners as 'empty, soulless and bitter'.
Traditional marriage roles
Zion, who lives with Laura in Yorkshire, calls himself the 'proud leader of the household' and boasts that his 'wife knows what her role is'. The couple, who have been together for 10 months and married in December, share videos promoting their lifestyle.
In a clip shared on YouTube, Laura is seen doing dishes while Zion works at the counter, illustrating their division of chores. Zion explains: 'I enjoy traditional marriage with traditional masculine and feminine roles'.
Career contradiction
Despite her traditionalist stance, Laura runs her own business. She quit her job as a relationship coach to start her own venture and describes herself as 'England's most sought-after teacher of traditional and biblical wifery', offering online courses and coaching.
This has led some to point out the irony, as she encourages women to avoid being a 'boss babe' while running her own enterprise.
Facing criticism
The couple often faces backlash for promoting historic gender stereotypes. Critics accuse them of 'internalised misogyny' or say the dynamic makes them 'throw up in their mouths'.
Laura reveals the most 'cruel' comment they receive: 'People think it’s degrading to take care of a man.' Despite this, she insists: 'I just love taking care of my man'.
Zion defends their choices, saying all relationships are different and come down to personal preference. He advises: 'Choose how you want to live your life carefully'.
