The One Show hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp paid tribute to broadcasting legend Gloria Hunniford on Friday, while also announcing a special anniversary programme.
Anniversary celebrations begin
At the start of the show on August 7, Roman said: "We're in a celebratory mood tonight as we launch our week of programmes marking our 20th anniversary."
Alex added: "Next Friday, 20 years to the day since we first hit your screens, we are bringing you a one hour-long special, with familiar faces and favourite moments from the last two decades."
Gloria Hunniford honoured
The hosts also celebrated their guest, Gloria Hunniford, who was marking 80 years in showbiz. BBC Four has a special night of programmes this weekend, starting with a documentary at 8pm on Saturday.
"From presenting to performing, Gloria, well, she's done it all," Roman said before a tribute clip was played.
Gloria, 86, said she found the achievement "crazy" to think about, adding: "I sort of can't believe that." She reflected on her career, which began with admiring her father's work as a magician.
"There were really no women, or very, very few, and none where I was in Belfast in either backstage or on camera. I think there might have been one doing sport," she said.
On entering broadcasting, she admitted: "I'm never able to resist a challenge... So, when young people say to me, 'How did you get on the telly?' I mean, I was so lucky that I was just given the job."
Trailblazer praised
Alex said: "You talk about the lack of women but you are a complete trailblazer, the first woman to host a chat show. The first woman to have a daily show on Radio 2. You have paved the way for so many of us, Gloria."
Gloria replied: "I never thought of it like that because I was a mum and I was doing what I was doing, and [was] glad to have the chance of this whole new sort of job. I never saw it like that but as I've got older, lovely young girls like you will say something like that."

The hosts read supportive messages from BBC viewers, with one person saying: "Gloria is nothing short of legendary." Another read: "She's just amazing, Gloria. Congratulations."
Many others shared well wishes on X, with one viewer writing: "She's a legend. I'll give her that." Another added: "She's amazing. Such a good example of hard work. Congratulations Gloria."
The One Show airs weeknights on BBC One at 7pm.
