Thandiwe Newton is set to appear as a guest judge on the upcoming eighth season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, which premieres on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three next Thursday, September 3.
The Hollywood actress, known for films such as Mission: Impossible II and The Pursuit of Happyness, has already chosen her drag name. The 53-year-old, who won a Primetime Emmy Award for her role in Westworld, told the BBC: "If I were…well let’s face it, I am a drag queen - my drag name would be Hannibal Trewartha, Hannibal was the name of my first pet, and Trewartha was the name of my first street and that apparently is your drag name."
Returning judges and guest lineup
Resident judges Alan Carr, Graham Norton, and Michelle Visage will return to the panel for the new season, which features 12 new contestants competing for the title of the next Drag Race Superstar.
Other guest judges include singer Anne-Marie, Slow Horses actor Kadiff Kirwan, fashion icon Michèle Lamy, actress Michelle de Swarte, pop legend Rick Astley, runway model Erin O'Connor, West End star Layton Williams, and eighties singer Martin Fry.
Cat Burns and Anne-Marie on board
Celebrity Traitors star Cat Burns will also appear, reuniting with fellow Traitor Alan Carr. When asked about her drag name, Cat said: "If I were on Drag Race UK my drag queen name would be Kitty Kat First Degree Burns."
Singer-songwriter Anne-Marie shared her excitement about joining the show, saying: "What a dream to be a part of Ru’s Drag Race. Surrounded by beautiful people all day! I loved it and I can’t wait to watch the whole season."
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK returns to BBC iPlayer and BBC Three next Thursday, September 3. The new season will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 7pm and on BBC Three from 9pm.
