Aldi is cutting the price of its viral “chicken wine” to £9.99, but shoppers will be limited to three bottles each. The deal starts in stores on August 27 and runs while stocks last.
The Le Grand Poulet Rosé Magnum drops from £11.99 to £9.99, meaning customers get the equivalent of two standard bottles for under £10. The magnum is the supersized version of Aldi’s Le Petit Poulet Rosé, which earned the “chicken wine” nickname because of the chicken illustration on its label.
How the wine went viral
The original wine went viral on TikTok in 2024, with shoppers struggling to pronounce its French name and instead calling it “chicken wine”. The nickname originally referred to La Vieille Ferme Rosé, a French drink produced in the Rhône by Famille Perrin.
Aldi later launched its own Le Petit Poulet Rosé, with the standard-sized bottle currently priced at £6.29. The magnum is described by Aldi as a pale peach-pink rosé with citrus and red berry aromas.
