Take That Etihad Road Closures Circus Live Tour Manchester

Howard Donald, Mark Owen and Gary Barlow return to Manchester tonight for an epic three-date run at the Etihad Stadium. Their spectacular Circus Live tour is rolling into town, and fans can hardly wait.

Tour Dates and Details

The band will play three huge gigs at Manchester's Etihad Stadium on June 19, 20, and 21, before returning again on July 1. Tens of thousands of fans will head into the stadium for the reboot of The Circus, the live tour which first debuted 17 years ago.

Originally staged in 2009, The Circus Live broke UK records as the fastest-selling tour in history, with more than 600,000 tickets sold in less than 5 hours, and over one million fans attending the sell-out shows across the UK and Ireland. Those who saw it first time around will be glad to know that the acrobats, tightrope walkers, fire-breathers, trapeze artists, and the 30ft animatronic elephant will all be back in action too.

Doors open at 5pm, and the entertainment kicks off at 6.25pm with Belinda Carlisle, followed by The Script at 7.20pm and then Take That at 8.30pm.

Travel Advice and Road Closures

Fifty thousand people will attend each night, and with many other events taking place in the city this weekend including Parklife at Heaton Park, Lily Allen and B52s at AO Arena, the Netball Super League at Co-op Live, and T20 Women's World Cup at Emirates Old Trafford, Transport for Greater Manchester advises planning ahead when travelling to the Etihad and using public transport where possible.

As per the Manchester City website, road closures operate immediately after the event to allow pedestrians to leave the Etihad Stadium safely. This is in place for approximately 20 minutes after the match, subject to Greater Manchester Police approval and may be in place for longer.

Roads affected by the closure are as follows:

  • Ashton New Road – between Alan Turing Way and Hillkirk Street
  • Grey Mare Lane – between Ashton New Road and Alan Turing Way

Since March, an emergency one-way closure is in place on Alan Turing Way, northbound only from the junction of Ashton Old Road to Grey Mare Lane. To reach the stadium, road users are advised to divert via Pin Mill Brow, Great Ancoats Street, Every Street and Ashton New Road. Due to congestion along the diversion route, fans are advised to expect longer journey times and for those using the car parks around the stadium, expect a short delay while the road is closed. Ashton New Road will re-open when deemed safe.
