Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left distracted by the same detail just minutes into the BBC show. The dance competition aired its first live show of the year on Saturday (September 26), officially kicking off the race for the glitterball trophy.
Viewers watched as new hosts Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe welcomed 15 new couples made up of professional dancers and celebrities to the ballroom. There is no public vote or elimination this week, but judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke still have the power to score each couple. Whatever points the pairs bag in the first show will be carried over to week two, when fans will finally have the opportunity to vote for their favourites.
Will Best's bold look steals the spotlight
Kicking off the live show was Big Brother host Will Best and partner Dianne Buswell, performing the Samba to the Robbie Williams hit song 'Rock DJ'. Fans were quickly distracted by Will's unique leather trousers and black vest outfit, with many flocking to share their compliments online.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one fan commented: "Will in the vest and leather pants [fire emoji] #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing," while someone else added: "Will Best in LEATHER. I'm gone." The new Strictly star was also dubbed "eye candy" after stepping out in the bold look.
Performance earns praise and 18 points
His performance received just as much praise from viewers at home. One fan said: "I've seen enough, Will Best my winner #Strictly," with a second commenting: "Thought Will Best's performance was very impressive especially for the week #Strictly." The couple earned 18 points from the judging panel, which will be carried over to their next performance.
New spin-off series announced
As well as the main show, the BBC will also be airing a new spin-off series called Strictly: Lights Up. Hosted by Strictly alum Tyler West and comedian Abi Clarke, the companion series will be available exclusively on BBC iPlayer every Sunday night immediately after the results show has finished.
According to its synopsis: "Abi and Tyler will take viewers straight onto the Strictly dancefloor for immediate reactions from the night's eliminated couple, their dance off opponents - plus the judges, hosts, other Strictly stars and studio guests." The new show begins on BBC iPlayer next Sunday (October 4), when the first of this season's celebrity couples will be eliminated from the competition.
