Former England rugby captain Chris Robshaw found himself at the centre of a Strictly Come Dancing row during his time on the show, after his wife Camilla Kerslake wanted to confront judge Craig Revel Horwood over perceived unfairness.
Robshaw's Strictly journey
The 40-year-old competed in last year's series alongside partner Nadiya Bychkova, performing the opening dance of the series and scoring 14 points, the second-lowest total of the night. He avoided elimination as scores carried over to the next week, with former Apprentice star Thomas Skinner being the first to bow out.
Robshaw was ultimately eliminated in week four. The BBC show has since returned for a 24th series, with sporting stars including retired footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips, Winter Olympic gold medalist Tabby Stoecker and Paralympic legend Sarah Storey among this year's lineup.
Wife's reaction to dance experience
Kerslake, a classical singer, questioned why her husband was competing against several stars with dancing backgrounds. On Instagram, she replied to a comment from former Love Island winner Amber Gill, which read: "Unpopular opinion: I think having people with so much dance experience is unfair." Kerslake responded: "The experience differences are absolutely wild. Definitely."
Among the contestants with prior dance experience were West End star Amber Davies and Emmerdale actor Lewis Cope, who was previously runner-up on Sky One's Got to Dance and starred in Billy Elliot: The Musical. Eventual Strictly champion Karen Carney also danced until 15 before focusing on football.
Kerslake's confrontation admission
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Kerslake admitted she had been tempted to confront Revel Horwood, saying: "I hope my big mouth won't get Chris in the bottom two. I was furious last week, a protective wife, and I wanted to climb over the desk and give Craig (Revel Horwood) what for. I'm so protective of my husband. I know how hard he's working, how much this means to him, and I reacted."
During his stint on the show, Robshaw dismissed suggestions of the 'Strictly curse' after forming a close partnership with Bychkova. "If people think there's something going on between us, we must be doing something right," he told The Sun. "It means we've managed to create a sense of chemistry for the show, and we are performing well. Nadiya and I are a team, both totally focused on the dancing and giving it our all week by week."
He added: "Camilla and I are solid. She's incredibly supportive, and we have a lot of trust in our marriage. Family is everything to me."
