Lidl has launched an 18m Clothes Airer priced at £9.99, available in-store at all its UK locations while stocks last. The supermarket, which operates over 1,000 stores nationwide, claims the item offers a "weather-resistant and durable" option for drying clothes indoors, especially useful as the weather cools after summer heatwaves.
Design and Features
Unlike traditional tiered airers, this model uses width rather than vertical design to dry laundry. It can be folded out to 180cm when fully deployed but folds flat for storage, making it suitable for smaller homes. The airer includes a child safety lock to prevent accidental folding and a tubular steel frame with robust joints and floor-friendly caps.
Key features include space for up to two washing machine loads (8kg each), a total drying length of 18m, a maximum load of 17kg, and a 3-year warranty. When unfolded, it measures L180 x W54.5 x H106cm; when folded, L128 x W54.5 x H3.5cm.
Comparison with Rivals
Similar products are available at other retailers. B&Q sells the Foldable Clothes Airer for £16.99, described as a "strong, space-saving solution" with 22 wide bars providing up to 18 metres of drying space. Made from premium stainless steel, it offers rust-resistant and weather-resistant build and can be stored flat in tight spaces.
Tesco stocks the Clothes Airer Drying Rack for £21.99, from Lifetime Clean. Tesco explains: "Dry your clothes easily with this beautiful rack. This drying rack from Lifetime Clean offers space for all your clean laundry." The rack is almost two meters wide and folds for easy storage.
Key Difference
