Strictly host Ellie Taylor in hospital after thumb injury
Strictly host Ellie Taylor hospital trip after thumb injury

Strictly host Ellie Taylor has revealed she was forced to make a trip to hospital after injuring her thumb ahead of the latest episode of It Takes Two.

The comedian shared a glimpse of her injury on Instagram on Monday, October 5, after being treated at a minor injuries unit, revealing she had been fitted with a grey brace. Thankfully, Ellie confirmed her thumb was not broken and had instead suffered a strain.

Plea to wardrobe team

But with just enough time to get to the BBC studios for her presenting duties, the new It Takes Two host had one request for the Strictly wardrobe team. Sharing a picture of her braced hand, Ellie joked: “Quick visit to minor injuries!

“Thumbs up to it not being broken, just a strain! Hope wardrobe has a glue gun and some rhinestones.”

The presenter then poked fun at her hospital experience, sharing a picture of a small bag of food and joking about having a “sad little ziplock bag” of snacks.

Back in the studio

Alongside a selfie with her injured hand raised, Ellie wrote: “Also big thumbs up (it’s all I’ve got) to Nurse Wendy who got me out in time to make my car to the studio.” Ellie was then back in the studio for her second week presenting It Takes Two, having taken over the role from Janette Manrara and Fleur East.

The episode saw her chat to the first couple to leave this year's competition, celebrity hairdresser Chris Appleton and professional dancer Amy Dowden. Chris became emotional as he reflected on his brief Strictly journey, breaking down in tears as he watched a montage of his time on the BBC show. The celebrity hairdresser, who has worked with stars including Kim Kardashian, described his time on Strictly as a “phenomenal experience”.

New features on the spin-off

Ellie joined It Takes Two for its latest series as the show's new presenter, with the BBC promising fans even more behind-the-scenes access to the dance competition. The weeknight spin-off is filmed at Elstree Studios and features interviews with celebrities and professional dancers, as well as insights from members of the creative team.

Strictly costume designer Vicky Gill also continues to offer her take on the outfits seen in the ballroom, while the show has introduced new features including panels made up of celebrities, professional dancers and former contestants. Speaking about taking on the role, Ellie previously said she was “incredibly honoured” to follow the hosts who had made It Takes Two a favourite among Strictly fans.

She joked that she was excited to get stuck into the “gossip and sequins” surrounding the show, adding: “I’m so excited, I could cha cha! (But I won’t - don’t worry… no one needs to see that again.)”
