Shivon Zilis announces breakup with Elon Musk in X post

Shivon Zilis, a Neuralink executive and mother of four of Elon Musk's children, has announced their breakup in a lengthy post on X, shortly after it was reported that Musk unfollowed her on the platform.

In her post, Zilis wrote: 'It’s hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that’s just how it is sometimes.' She added, 'I feel happy that I got to show Elon how it feels to be deeply understood, nurtured, and peacefully loved with stability and gentleness.'

Zilis reflects on relationship and children

Zilis spoke warmly of Musk, describing his 'tortured soul' and expressing her deep love for him. She wrote, 'I’ve loved him more than life itself and he’s taught me 100 lifetimes of knowledge and made my cup overflow with life meaning, so there is a lot of loss, but luckily we created four beautiful little loves of my life.'

She went on to say, 'I am so beyond grateful for our children, and they make every single day the best day of my life! I do hope and pray he and I can be great friends and co-parents.'

Recent messages and family details

Zilis also shared a screenshot of messages exchanged with Musk late last month, during a visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to the US. Musk wrote, 'I didn’t realise this Xi dinner included significant other, or I would have invited you,' to which Zilis replied, 'Aw, that means so much to me, thank you.'

The couple welcomed twins Strider and Azure in November 2021. Musk had his 12th child with Zilis in February 2024, a baby girl named Arcadia. Their fourth child, a boy named Seldon Lycurgus, is Musk’s 14th child, though his birthdate was not revealed.

Musk's expanding family

The Tesla founder, 55, has welcomed children with four different women over the last two decades. In 2025, The Wall Street Journal reported that the 'true number of [his] children is much higher than publicly known.' Musk has been open about his views on procreation, claiming that falling birth rates pose a grave risk to humanity.
