Scottie Scheffler has topped the PGA Tour regular-season standings for the fourth time in five years, earning a £7.4m bonus ahead of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. The world number one missed out on a major title this year but remains the man to beat as the playoffs begin.
Scheffler's £7.4m bonus
The bonus is half of the prize pool, worth almost £15m, shared among the top 10 at the end of the regular season. Scheffler was joined in the top 10 by Matt Fitzpatrick, Cameron Young, Wyndham Clark, Chris Gotterup, Collin Morikawa, Si Woo Kim, Sam Burns, Tommy Fleetwood and Ludvig Aberg.
While the money is 'unofficial' and doesn't count towards his season's earnings, it will soon reside in his bank account.
Block disputes disqualification
Michael Block has insisted he didn't deserve to be disqualified from the PGA Seniors Championship. The 50-year-old, who stole the show with a shock top-15 finish at the 2023 US PGA Championship, walked off the course 12 holes into his final round at Trump International Golf Links in Scotland.
Block had already been docked two shots for turning up late to his tee time. He admitted that particular sanction was fair, telling Golf Digest: "First time in my career [that's happened] and it's completely my fault."
But he wasn't happy to have the word 'disqualified' next to his name after claiming he tried to withdraw correctly, having been given a lift to the tournament office by someone he thought was an official. He also denied he was unhappy with course conditions.
He said: "I walked into the championship office to thank them for the week, but no one was there. I thought nothing of it, thinking that I had withdrawn correctly. But I guess the gentleman who gave me the ride [to the office] was not an official, so I was disqualified. To hear these accusations that I just walked off the course and that I was upset about the course conditions is absurd."
