Sabrina Elba's Chic Golden Globes Look After Idris's Honour

Sabrina Elba made a breathtaking entrance at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, radiating elegance on the red carpet at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. The 36-year-old Canadian model captivated onlookers in a stunning nude gown from the Guy Laroche FW02 collection, accessorising with exquisite Jessica McCormack jewellery and a pair of Jimmy Choo heels.

A Family Celebration of Success

Her glamorous appearance followed a significant milestone for her family. Just days before, her husband, actor Idris Elba, 53, was awarded a knighthood in the New Year's Honours list. Sir Idris was recognised for his campaigning work against knife crime through his Elba Hope Foundation. In accepting the honour, he dedicated it to the 'many young people' at his charity who inspire his efforts, emphasising the need for 'sustained, practical support' to steer youth away from violence.

The 2026 Golden Globes: Nominations and Snubs

The ceremony, hosted for the second consecutive year by comedian Nikki Glaser, brought together Hollywood's elite to honour the best in film and television, with podcasts included for the first time. The nominations were led by the epic 'One Battle After Another' with nine nods, including Best Picture (Musical/Comedy), Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson, and acting nominations for Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro, and Sean Penn.

Close behind was Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value with eight nominations, while Ryan Coogler’s Sinners secured seven. Notable snubs included the omission of Wicked: For Good from the Best Musical or Comedy category, though stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande received acting nods. Other surprises saw 16-year-old Owen Cooper nominated for his supporting role in the Netflix hit Adolescence, which earned five nominations total.

Brits in the Spotlight

The British contingent is strong this awards season. Irish actress Jessie Buckley is a front-runner in the Best Actress (Drama) category for Hamnet, while Paul Mescal scored a Best Supporting Actor nomination for the same film. Furthermore, Dame Helen Mirren has already been announced as the recipient of the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement, which will be presented on January 8th.

The television categories are fiercely competitive, with The White Lotus leading with six nominations, narrowly beating Adolescence. The Best Actor in a TV Drama category features a stellar line-up including Sterling K. Brown, Gary Oldman, and Adam Scott.

The 83rd Golden Globe Awards, celebrating the best of entertainment across 28 categories, will take place on January 11th, 2026.
