Wayne Rooney has insisted he is not using weight loss jabs after his much-remarked-upon 'glow up' transformation. The former footballer, 40, has lost six stone in recent times and has now candidly revealed how he achieved it.
The sports star, who is rumoured to be heading into the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle this year, explained that he cut out alcohol and tried to be a bit healthier overall.
Rooney's Health Kick Explained
During an appearance on Thursday's This Morning with Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, Ben said: "You've had this glow up, as the girls would call it, how are you feeling?"
Wayne responded: "I feel great, I haven't drank for a while. I just wanted to feel a bit healthier and be healthier. Obviously, eating habits are a lot better and training, so everyone is saying I'm on this pen thing - which I'm not. I wanna get that out there, I actually am working hard."
Family Motivation
Wayne, who has been married to Coleen Rooney since 2008 and has Kai, 16, Klay, 13, Kit, 10, and eight-year-old Cass with her, went on to explain that he was inspired to take up the health kick so he could spend more time with his children.
"The things you do which I've missed out on because I've been away with football, birthdays or Christmas, I missed out on. And when I stopped playing."
"I got stuck in a bit of a rut, probably drinking a bit too much or not getting in a routine of training. And I just thought I wanted to enjoy time with my kids when they're at this age, and be clean, and I've been more pleasant."
New TV Venture
The star has turned to TV and alongside wife Coleen is fronting new Disney+ show The Real Rooneys, which premieres this week. The new show marks a huge change for Wayne, away from football and his new focus on his family and his kids.
His decision to step away from football management sees him getting more involved in the day to day lives of his kids, like school pick ups, whilst Coleen focuses on the biggest opportunities of her career, including her brand new Primark range.
