Rod Stewart has confirmed his final Scottish performance will take place at Glasgow's OVO Hydro on April 29, 2027, as part of his newly announced The Final Encore Tour, which he has revealed will be his last ever tour.
The 81-year-old singer announced the news on social media on September 28, following heart surgery last month that forced him to cancel several American shows. While Stewart insists he is not retiring, the announcement means he has just one gig left in Scotland.
Tour announcement and dates
Sharing a clip on Instagram, Stewart wrote in the caption: "Well, here we go… one last time! Come and see me on my The Final Encore Tour for one more round of rock ’n’ roll. I’m really looking forward to it."
The tour begins on March 8 with several American stops before heading to Europe. The Scottish date at the OVO Hydro will be one of several UK and Ireland shows, with stops in Dublin on April 23, Belfast on April 27, Birmingham on May 4, Manchester on May 6, and London on May 11.
Ticket details and prices
Artist presale began at 10am on September 29, with further presale events taking place over the next couple of days via Ticketmaster. The general sale will begin at 10am on Friday, October 2.
Standard tickets range from £78.30 to £220.15, while venue premium tickets are priced between £278.80 and £318.20. The final tour date will be held at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, on September 2, 2027.
Emotional farewell and fan reaction
Announcing the decision on Instagram, Stewart told his fans: "Ladies and gentleman, after much deliberation and sadness I have to announce next year will be my last ever tour, ever ever."
He added: "I'm not retiring but this will be the last rock and roll tour so I want to thank you for everything you've given me and hopefully I've given you something in return." Adding a touch of humour to the announcement, Stewart repeatedly hit a piano key as he sang: "Please come back and see me on the tour. It's going to be great."
Many fans have since shared their support. One person wrote: "You will always be in the hearts of millions of people forever and ever. Thank you for all the amazing music. Keep Rocking you absolute legend!" Another added: "You have given me so much joy, a real good reason to travel the world and the chance to meet wonderful people (some of whom I can call my friends now). Gratitude, Respect and Love forever." A third fan commented: "We were very sad about the cancellation of your show, but the most important thing is that you are well."
The announcement comes after Stewart was forced to take a minimum of four weeks away from the stage to recover from heart surgery. While he was "deeply disappointed" to let fans down, his wife Penny Lancaster assured that he would come back "stronger than ever".
