Robson Green names Northumberland chippy as his top fish and chips spot

Robson Green has named The Neptune at Seahouses as his number one place for fish and chips, ahead of the premiere of his new BBC drama Northumbria Mysteries.

The North East actor spoke at the show's premiere in Newcastle, where he also praised Hook and The Black Swan in Seahouses, a childhood favourite.

Premiere in Newcastle

Robson Green attended the premiere at Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle city centre on Thursday evening, joined by co-stars Liz White and Gurjeet Singh, where invited guests watched the first episode of the eight-part series and took part in a Q&A led by Look North presenter Carol Malia.

The actor, known for ITV's Wire in the Blood and Grantchester, plays Joe Ruby, a reformed criminal at the centre of murder investigations, alongside DI Rose O'Connell, played by Liz White.

Fish and chips favourites

Speaking to ChronicleLive before the screening, Robson discussed filming on home turf and his favourite places to eat during breaks. He said: "I had too many fish and chips! I must have put on over 13lbs and that's all down to the Neptune at Seahouses...and Hook! And The Black Swan at Seahouses as well; I used to go there all the time as a child."

His choices match a ChronicleLive poll run before Good Friday this year, where Hook finished top and its sister restaurant came third, behind runner-up The Front in Newbiggin.

Northumbria Mysteries air date

Northumbria Mysteries debuts on BBC One on October 23 and airs across consecutive Fridays for eight weeks, with episodes released in blocks of four on iPlayer.
