BBC Radio 1 will bring another set of bands to Wales this September. The station has announced the line-up for Radio 1’s New Music Live, which will return to Cardiff for a second year with a night of live music at Tramshed on Tuesday, September 29.
Hosts and performers
Hosted by Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, Sian Eleri and Alyx Holcombe, the event will bring together four of the most exciting names in new music for a night of live performances. Each of the acts have been championed by Radio 1, highlighting some of the freshest talent emerging from across the UK and Ireland.
The bands performing are Fat Dog, Lime Garden, THEATRE and Westside Cowboy. Tickets for the show are available to buy, with more information on the event available on the Radio 1 website.

Then, on Wednesday, September 30, the performances will be broadcast on Radio 1 as part of a special New Music Live Cardiff show, presented by Jack Saunders, Sian Eleri and Alyx Holcombe, from 7-10pm.
Jack Saunders said: “I love getting on the road with Radio 1, especially if it’s a sweaty gig with some of our favourite bands. It’s gonna be a great night that once again proves Radio 1’s commitment to supporting local venues.”
Act profiles
Fat Dog are a South London-based band known for their chaotic, high-energy live shows and genre-defying sound, blending punk, techno, electronic music and everything in between. Their debut album WOOF. received widespread critical acclaim, while their explosive live performances have established them as a must-see act on the UK festival circuit. Fat Dog have been championed by Radio 1 with playlist support, were named Hottest Record on Radio 1’s New Music Show with Jack Saunders and performed on the BBC Introducing Stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2025 in Liverpool.
Brighton quartet Lime Garden have established themselves as one of the most exciting bands in the UK’s alternative scene, blending indie rock with disco, pop and surf influences. Their second album, Maybe Not Tonight, has earned support from Radio 1, including Greg James and Alyx Holcombe, alongside BBC Introducing.
Limerick five-piece THEATRE are making their mark on Ireland’s alternative scene with a distinctive blend of ethereal rock, folk and shoegaze. Following their debut single ‘The Fall’ and EP Incarnate, the band have built a reputation for captivating live shows and have been championed by Radio 1 through support from the Indie Show and Future Artists.
Manchester quartet Westside Cowboy are making waves with their raw, infectious take on indie rock. Known for their energetic live shows and sharp songwriting, the band have quickly built a reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging acts. They have been championed by Radio 1 with playlist support and a Hottest Record on Radio 1’s New Music Show with Jack Saunders, alongside support from BBC Introducing.
