Princess Catherine has released touching new photographs capturing her emotional reunion with Prince William and their children after completing the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge. The images, shared by Kensington Palace on the Waleses' social media accounts, show the princess embracing her family at the base of Mount Snowdon.
Royal First: Catherine Conquers Three Peaks
Last weekend, the Princess of Wales undertook a surprise endurance feat, climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales—Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon—within 24 hours. The challenge began on Saturday evening and was completed solo, supported by Mountain Rescue. Kensington Palace confirmed that this expedition is believed to be a royal first, marking the first time a member of the Royal Family has finished the National Three Peaks Challenge.
The initiative aimed to raise money for a cancer charity, with proceeds benefiting The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. A palace statement noted that Catherine undertook the challenge to “explore life beyond diagnosis.”
Family Reunion at Snowdon
The newly released images depict a series of heartfelt moments. One photograph shows Catherine hugging Prince William tightly after the arduous hike. Another captures her embracing Princess Charlotte, who appears overwhelmed with emotion. Additional photos feature Catherine with her arm around Prince George, holding hands with Prince Louis, and chatting with her family. The final image shows the Princess of Wales alongside her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, her brother James Middleton, and his dog.
The caption accompanying the post reads: “This time last week, completing the National Three Peaks Challenge. A huge thank you to everybody who has supported The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.”
Inspiring Encounter on Ben Nevis
During the climb, Catherine met 11-year-old Ted, a wheelchair user who was also tackling the challenge with the help of his family and friends. Ted was raising money for Molly Olly’s Wishes, a charity that supports children with serious illnesses. On Monday, Catherine donated to Ted’s Just Giving page and left a message: “One of the real highlights of the Three Peaks Challenge was meeting inspiring people like you along the way. Huge congratulations to Ted, Pete and the entire team for raising money for such a wonderful cause.”
