Prince William's Earthshot line-up shows why Hollywood failed Harry and Meghan

The Prince of Wales will be joined by a host of A-listers at the Earthshot Prize ceremony in Mumbai, India, on November 17, in what has been described as another major blow to his brother Prince Harry.

Stars including Rami Malek, Simone Ashley, Sonam Kapoor, and Robert Irwin will attend the awards night of William's environmental campaign, which he founded in 2020. Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal will perform, and the event will stream on Prime Video, with 5,000 guests in the audience.

A contrast in fortunes

The event is a stark contrast to Harry's experience in the US, where he spent nearly six years trying to make it in Hollywood before reportedly conceding defeat and returning to the UK with his wife and children. Failed Netflix projects, a Spotify deal that seemingly went nowhere, and rejection by figures including Martha Stewart are said to rankle as William continues to mix with celebrities while remaining an active member of the Royal Family.

William did not spark a feud with his father King Charles, nor draw the ire of the press for abandoning his country while continuing to demand taxpayer-funded security.

Meghan's position

For Meghan Markle, a former actress, it must sting not to be part of the event. She still has her role in Archewell Productions and is bringing up her children, but she has not returned to acting despite rumours she would star in season three of The Gentlemen. Its cast, however, seem to disagree she has been involved in talks.

Harry has the Invictus Games to focus on, but no impending royal tours or visits are in the diary. William, in contrast, is balancing his royal duties with the Earthshot Prize, demonstrating he can manage the Hollywood industry alongside real work—something Harry proved he could not do while living in America.
