Phil Stunned as George Confesses to Murder in EastEnders

Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is a man who has faced many challenges in his life on EastEnders, but even he was taken aback when his friend confessed to killing someone. Last week, George Knight (Colin Salmon) endured a final confrontation with his adoptive father Eddie Knight (Christopher Fairbank).

Eddie first appeared in the BBC One soap over two years ago, arriving in Walford with his wife Gloria. It didn't take long for his true nature to emerge. The character was revealed to be a vile racist who had murdered a Black man decades earlier, a crime witnessed by a young George. In 2024, George discovered that the man Eddie killed, Henry Kofi Asare, was actually his birth father.

The former Queen Vic landlord testified against Eddie in court during his trial for racially motivated murder. Eddie was found guilty and sentenced to prison, with George cutting all ties. However, Eddie returned earlier this year, claiming he was dying. He blackmailed Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) to secure a place to stay, offering money to save Harry's Barn and Knight Fusion in exchange for accommodation.

A few days ago, George confronted Eddie about his treatment of Gina Knight (Francesca Henry). Eddie began choking after taking his medication and reached for a glass of water. George took the glass and drank from it himself, watching as Eddie died.

Yesterday, as George spiraled over Eddie's final moments, he took a risk by returning to the boxing ring. George lives with Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) from repeated head injuries during his boxing career. Medics had warned him that boxing again could cause serious brain damage, so fighting Mark Fowler Jnr (Stephen Aaron-Sipple) was a huge mistake.

In tonight's episode, Phil took George aside after he was knocked out, concerned by his friend's behavior. George confessed to killing Eddie, revealing the exact details. Phil reassured him that letting Eddie die is not the same as murder, but George couldn't see it from Phil's perspective.

Phil told George that the only important thing now is to keep his mouth shut, because his family needs him out of prison. It's only been a few hours since Eddie's death, and George has already told someone. Can he really keep this secret forever?
