The Yorkshire Vet star Peter Wright made a candid admission about his wife during a previous appearance on James Martin's Saturday Morning. The beloved vet, a firm fan favourite on The Yorkshire Vet, spoke openly about what it was like leaving his family home to film a project in India.
He also offered a glimpse into his marriage after revealing that his wife, Lin, "sadly" suffered a broken ankle and wrist. "I've been told you don't venture into the kitchen very often. Is that right?" James asked the vet in an episode that originally aired in 2025, to which the vet replied: "Well, that's maybe a bit of an understatement."
Peter's cooking struggles
Peter went on to say: "Lin, sadly, last year (2024), broke her ankle and wrist, and she was bed-bound. She couldn't bear weight for a considerable time, and she wanted to bring the bed down to the kitchen. That was my first mistake. At that point, very shortly after that, two things, one is I'm no carer, and two is I'm no cook.
"Well, what happened was I'd be beavering away. I mean, it was out of sight because there's a breakfast bar in front of it, right, the bed was on the other side, and there she is, 'That doesn't sound right. That's boiling too hard. I can hear it. You've got to listen as well as watch'."
Peter concluded by saying, "And so things went from bad to worse and diplomatic relations got written off on numerous occasions."
Filming in India
Shifting focus to Peter leaving Yorkshire for a trip to India, James remarked, "Tell me about India, then, because India is a fantastic, fascinating place as well. What made you go to India? What was the defining factor with it? Is it a place that's always fascinated you?"
Peter revealed: "We have been as tourists on several occasions in Mumbai, and we've been to the Donegal triangle, which was absolutely fascinating. But to go and film, there was something I just did not want to miss because it is such a fascinating place.
"One of our younger vets [from Huddersfield] is of Indian descent, and so he and his father have a family farm in Punjab, and I was invited to go out to spend time on the farm there. And I thought this, 'I just cannot miss'."
Peter is currently back on screens for a 23rd instalment of the beloved Channel 5 documentary series, which follows some of the nation's favourite vets as they care for animals across Yorkshire. The series kicked off earlier this month with a special episode that saw Peter open a memorial garden for pets who have died over the years.
