At 10am on Thursday, Rodrigo announced the concert via an Instagram post. Tickets were sold exclusively at the box office for $25 each, with no online sales, creating a scramble among fans. The queue wrapped around the block in Greenpoint as the heat index neared 100F, and by 11.40am all wristbands were gone.
A Striking Contrast in Scale
The show came 14 months after Rodrigo's headline set at Glastonbury, and just weeks before she launches an 86-date world tour. The venue, a century-old Polish community hall known for punk shows, offered a stark contrast to the arenas she usually plays. The set drew heavily from her new album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, which debuted at No 1 in June.
An Intimate and Polished Performance
Rodrigo emerged at 8.20pm in a pink floral minidress, and the hour-long set included 15 songs, with nine from the new album. The performance was polished yet relaxed, with Rodrigo engaging directly with the crowd. Her all-female and non-binary band played with kinetic force, and the sparse staging kept focus on the tightly composed material.
