Olivia Attwood has sent a message to her sister after a 'critical' hospital visit. Georgia Attwood was rushed to hospital in Miami for surgery for her endometriosis.
Olivia's message of support
The 35-year-old TV presenter shared a video of her sister, Georgia, as she discussed her recent surgery for endometriosis. Olivia wrote: "So proud of you, strongest person I know".
Georgia said her endometriosis symptoms "turned critical" while she was in Miami where she was in hospital for five days. When she returned home, she went "straight into surgery".

She wrote: "This time, they found endometriosis had spread into my bowel, causing a blockage, with lesions fusing it to my pelvic wall. Learning how far it had progressed despite all the previous surgery was devastating. I'm lucky to have had an incredible surgeon and a successful outcome — but recovery isn't linear."
Endometriosis is where cells similar to those in the lining of the womb (uterus) grow in other parts of the body. It often develops in areas around the womb, such as the fallopian tubes, ovaries and lining of the pelvis. It also sometimes affects organs such as the bladder or bowel.
Impact and advocacy
Symptoms include period pain, pain in the lower stomach or pelvic area, extreme tiredness and pain or bleeding in other areas. There is no known cure and treatment is used to help manage symptoms such as pain.
Georgia added: "Someone said to me recently, 'so many people have endo now.' That's not true — the same number of people have always had it. What's changed is that brave people are sharing their stories, and organizations like @theendometriosisfoundation are advocating loudly. That's what moves research, healthcare systems, and governments to act. No patient voices, no change. So if you're comfortable to do so — keep sharing. Keep the pressure up. Change is happening, and it's because of every one of you."
