Odegaard warns rivals after Community Shield win

Martin Odegaard helped Arsenal to a 3-0 win over Manchester City in the Community Shield in Cardiff, with goals from Riccardo Califiori, Kai Havertz, and Odegaard himself - his first of 2026. After the match, the Arsenal captain warned rivals that Mikel Arteta's side are on a mission to win every trophy available this season.

Odegaard: 'We want to win everything'

Odegaard said: "We played some brilliant football. We showed our level. We showed we're ready, serious and want to do it again. We want to attack it. When you get a taste of how nice it is, you want to do it again. We want to win everything."

Arteta proud of performance

Arteta, who has now won two trophies in the last four months, said: "I'm extremely happy with the performance. We talked about the desire we have - and to show how much we want it. It's down to the preparation. I'm very impressed in the manner we played and competed. There is more belief. How to do it (win the title), and what it means. It makes a difference. I want to live those moments again. But we know it's going to demand something special."

Maresca's tough start

This was Enzo Maresca's worst possible start to his task of replacing Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, and it was also his joint heaviest defeat as a manager in England. Maresca said: "The big part of the game was the first goal we conceded. Then the second one made it more difficult. I'm always concerned, even when we win games. We have a lot of things we need to do better. We will re-set, analyse the game and start thinking about the next one. We can find many things after this kind of defeat. We were not switched on."

Captain Ruben Dias insisted there was a lot of work for his side to do. He said: "It's obviously not good enough. It is a final that we all wanted to win. If there is a lesson to be learnt in the final, let it be this one. You need to push through and make things work between us. We need to keep on working. and there's going to be lots of challenges along the way."
