A heartbreaking new romance film released on Netflix this week has dominated the charts mere hours after its premiere, leaving fans emotionally wrecked. The film, titled Voicemails for Isabelle, is currently the second most-watched Netflix film this weekend.
Emotional Gut-Punch from the Start
Dropping on the platform this Friday, June 19, the new romantic comedy features an all-star cast and a poignant twist. Its only competition is the harrowing true crime documentary Maternal Instincts, making this new original release a must-watch for anyone seeking lighter fare for Saturday or Sunday night viewing.
Be warned, however, as Voicemails for Isabelle kicks off with an emotional gut-punch. Protagonist Jill, played by Zoey Deutch, loses her beloved sister Isabelle, portrayed by Ciara Bravo, in the opening minutes. Fans have been left devastated by this emotional opening twist.
Plot and Characters
Struggling to cope with the loss of her best friend, Jill begins leaving voice messages on Isabelle's old number. Unbeknownst to her, the number has been reassigned to Austin-based estate agent Wes, played by Nick Robinson. Wes slowly falls for the charming voice on the other end of the line and decides to meet Jill in San Francisco. However, his secret threatens to sabotage their growing feelings for one another.
The film also features comedy legend Nick Offerman as Jill's dominating patisserie boss, Chef Bastien. Voicemails for Isabelle is packed with heart and humour, but its emotional core and heartstopping twists have left viewers in tears.
