Cruz Beckham, Gene Gallagher, Moses Martin and Violet Grohl are among the celebrity offspring performing at Reading and Leeds Festival this weekend, where they will aim to prove their musical credentials to festivalgoers.
David and Victoria Beckham's youngest son Cruz, 21, will join Moses Martin, 20, Violet Grohl, 20, and Gene Gallagher, 25, at Richfield Avenue and Bramham Park over the August Bank Holiday. They will share the bill with headliners Chase and Status, Fontaines DC, Charli XCX, RAYE and Dave, as well as acts including Skepta, Chris Stussy, Keo, Jade and Skye Newman.
Nepotism claims over festival lineup
The inclusion of children of some of the UK's biggest stars has raised eyebrows, with some suggesting they secured their spots due to their famous last names. Ultimately, festivalgoers will be brutally honest, and they - like other artists at the event - will need to win over the crowd.
Cruz Beckham's debut EP
Cruz is set to perform with his band The Breakers at Reading on Saturday and Leeds on Sunday following the release of his debut EP Wear & Tear. He explained that the album follows a "life lived", saying: "We've been high, and low, in love and in pain, jealous, upset – we've lived and learned. We've all got our wear and tear."
Last month, Cruz spoke of his mother Victoria's 'tough love', thanking both her and dad David for giving him the self-belief needed to kickstart his music career. "They've taught me throughout the years to just work on your craft and hone in and make sure you're the best version of yourself at what you're doing," he told SiriusXM Hits 1 Miami. "If they didn't teach me that, I don't think I'd be able to get up on stage and play guitar and be confident enough to show what I've been working at for a long time."
Cruz first performed for friends and family last year, leaving his parents in "tears of joy". Victoria shared a clip of him singing and playing guitar, captioning it: "'Wow!!! You look so happy Cruz and we couldn't be prouder we love you @cruzbeckham xxxxxxxxxx."
Gene Gallagher's Villanelle set
Gene Gallagher, Liam Gallagher's youngest son, will perform with his indie rock band Villanelle at 5.25pm on The Canopy Stage at Reading today, before jetting off to Leeds tomorrow. Gene, whose mother is All Saints singer Nicole Appleton, is the lead vocalist, joined by Andrew Richmond on drums, Jack Schiavo on bass and Ben Taylor on guitar.
The band released their debut single hinge last year, which Gene said is about "paranoia derived from sleepless nights", adding: "I was probably hungover when I wrote it." Villanelle opened for Liam during his 2024 solo Definitely Maybe tour, with Gene admitting earlier this year that it had been a "baptism of fire" compared to supporting Miles Kane in January and February.
Liam denied nepotism claims after announcing his son's band as support in 2024, writing on social media: "I've given many opportunities to many young bands over the years it's what you do if you can now it's VILLANELLES turn if you don't like it F***OFF." In response to a fan saying "nepotism isn't it Liam", he responded: "Is it f*** he's my son it's what you do."
Moses Martin and Violet Grohl
Moses Martin, son of Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, will perform with his indie-pop band People I've Met on The Canopy stage at Reading today and Leeds tomorrow. The frontman's band first launched in 2025 under the name Dancer before changing their name, and were signed by Interscope Records earlier this year, releasing their first single Promise. Moses previously sang on Coldplay songs including Humankind and The Astronaught, and has a co-writing credit for Orphans and All My Love.
Violet Grohl, eldest daughter of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, released her 11-track debut studio album Be Sweet To Me in June and is due to perform on The Canopy stage at Leeds today and Reading on Sunday. She was forced to cancel two dates of her current UK headline tour days ago after losing her voice.
Violet admitted she begged her parents to drop out of school as a teen and follow in her dad's footsteps, with them responding with a "F*** no." Her dad has denied her success has anything to do with nepotism, claiming he had "absolutely nothig" to do with her album or her record deal with Republic Records/Island EMI. Violet has also joined her father on stage at the FireAid benefit concert last year, which raised $100million for those affected by the California wildfires.
