Miley Cyrus' new album Bass Persuades has set an unwanted record: the biggest second-week fall for a full-length release that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The album topped the chart upon its release, but just one week later it dropped to No. 157, according to Variety. Bass Persuades, released on 18 September 2026, is Cyrus' 10th studio album and her first No. 1 in almost 13 years. It also marks her first project under her new stage name, as she now goes by the mononym Miley.
Chart performance and live return
The album's title track reached No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100, her 24th Top 40 entry. Despite the album's swift descent, fans remain eager to see the former Hannah Montana star perform live.
Cyrus is scheduled to play two sold-out shows at the Hollywood Bowl on 16 and 18 October, her first live public performances in four years. Hollywood Bowl organisers reported that over 1.5 million people registered online for presale tickets to the highly anticipated concerts.
Fan support online
Following the news of the chart drop, fans flooded social media with support. One person wrote on X/Twitter: "F*** the numbers, we love Miley," while another said: "I’m sorry but the album is in rotation cause it’s good asf."
Another fan added: "She’s just too perfect to be true," and one posted: "Omg Bass Persuades and Something Beautiful deserve(d) better, Miley just go independent at this point, these labels playin in your face! Gag it."
