Lucy Davis returns to work at London convention after cancer news

Actress Lucy Davis is returning to work later this month as she continues to "enjoy the time" she has left following her terminal breast cancer diagnosis. The 53-year-old, daughter of comedian Jasper Carrott, who shot to fame in the BBC comedy series The Office, shared the news of her condition in a lengthy and emotional Instagram post on Tuesday. She stated: "I still would like to keep working. I'm perfectly able to do so..."

Convention appearance confirmed

In a Facebook post it was confirmed she will be appearing at the For the Love of Fantasy & Sci-Fi convention which takes place on August 22 and 24 at Excel London in the Royal Victoria Dock. Her participation had been announced before the details of her cancer were publicly shared.

Writing on Facebook they said: "In light of the recent news, we would like to confirm that Lucy Davis is still attending the event and is very much looking forward to meeting her fans! We can’t wait to welcome Lucy and give you the opportunity to meet her."

Fans praise her bravery

Fans flooded the comments with support for the star following the announcement as fans praised her bravery and shared their excitement about meeting her. "Absolute class of her to still attend. Is there any way of a fundraiser for a charity of her choice that people can donate to as a thank you for still attending?" one enquired.

"Lucy through and through. She is wonderful human. I know the fans will make her feel loved, and will be the right medicine," another added. A third chimed in: "I don't think anybody would have expected her to attend after sharing the news and nor would there have been a single argument about that decision if she chose not to either. This says so much about her character. She will be well looked after and feel all the love through the weekend I'm sure. Looking forward to meeting her."

A fourth shared: "Such sad news to read and she’s extremely brave to open up and continue with her commitments. I can’t wait to meet her finally hope she’s ready for all us fans x." Co-stars and autograph details

Lucy will appear on both days alongside her Shaun of the Dead co-star Simon Pegg and the film's director Edgar Wright. She played Dianne in the 2004 horror-comedy. Fans can get an autograph from the star for £45 and a photo for the same price.
