Liverpool ECHO death notices: Tributes and funeral announcements this week
Liverpool ECHO death notices: Tributes and funeral announcements

The Liverpool ECHO's print edition has published tributes and funeral notices for 45 people who have recently passed away, giving families and friends the chance to celebrate their loved ones' lives and pay respects to the health and care teams who looked after them.

The announcements also often share information regarding funerals, fundraising and flowers. Announcing the death of a loved one in the local press is a long-standing tradition, and the ECHO says it is proud of the trust placed in it to make these important announcements.

The full list of family announcements is available on the Liverpool ECHO section of partner website funeral-notices.co.uk. Here is a selection of some of the notices published in the paper this week.

Ann Elizabeth (Hosker) Cropper

(Hosker) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Elizabeth Cropper (Hosker) on August 15th, 2026 just before her 75th Birthday. Ann was born on August 30th, 1951 in Liverpool, England to the late Jack and Dorothy Cropper (nee Hosker). She was the youngest sister to John Cropper and Stella Elliott of Orillia. Ann will be greatly missed by her nieces Pamela Neely, Jan Leader, Dale McMann, Kim Newman, Paula Wilson and nephew Terry Cropper. Ann cherished the many years spent with her aunts, uncles, cousins and her dear lifelong friend, Janice Harrison. The memories they created and the time she shared with family, and friends held a very special place in her heart.

Ann immigrated to Canada at the young age of 20, where she established her roots in Orillia. She worked at Tops Drugstore downtown Orillia and later at Zellers before beginning her career with CIBC, where she remained until her retirement. Ann enjoyed volunteering and generously gave her time to several organizations over the years including SALT (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) with the OPP, and the Orillia Museum. She was also a dedicated Volunteer with Soldiers Memorial Hospital for the past 30 years where she became a valued and familiar presence and enjoyed the interactions and conversations with staff, patients and visitors.

Ann had a fun and eclectic style from her bright framed glasses, bold colours, chunky jewelry, scarves, hats, unique purses and handbags to all things British reflecting her personality and flair. Ann was incredibly creative, had a true gift for knitting, crocheting, even creating some of her own clothing and took great pride in all her crafts. Ann loved viewing the world through the lens of her camera whether capturing the beauty of nature on her walks along Couchiching Park or Bass Lake or taking photographs and videos at family gatherings. She had a wonderful eye for finding something interesting or special and loved capturing it in photographs to share with others.

Ann cherished the many summer days with family and friends on the river at her Aunt Stella and Uncle Malcolm Savage's cottage, especially Christmases with their Charlie Brown tree and British food favorites of homemade steak and kidney pie and mince tarts. These were treasured times filled with laughter, memories, good food and moments that Ann enjoyed immensely. They are memories that her family and friends will always remember fondly. Ann was a proud breast cancer survivor known throughout her life for her beautiful long hair. Following her diagnosis in 2019, she made the decision to cut her hair short and donate it before beginning chemotherapy. Her strength, generosity, and courage were a reflection of the person she was.

Ann will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to Ann's Celebration of Life which will be held at Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street East, Orillia on Sunday October 4, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. If desired, memorial donations in Ann's name may be made to the Oncology Department at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital or Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre or the charity of your choice through Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street East, Orillia ON (705) 327-0221. Gnr Paul Keegan (56 today)

(56 today) We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday and the days before that too. We think of you in the silence and often speak your name. Now all we have is memories and your pictures in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake with which we will never part. Now God has you in Heaven and we have you in our hearts. Happy Birthday Paul we love and miss you every day. You are and always will be simply the best. Love Mum, Dad, Karen, Anthony, Donna, Dj, Jake and Lucas x x x x x x x x.
