Kerry Katona 'Gobsmacked' as Her Song Hits Top 10: 'Dream Come True'
Kerry Katona 'Gobsmacked' as Song Hits Top 10

Kerry Katona has been left 'gobsmacked' after her new single 'Home Again' entered the iTunes Top 10, nearly three decades after she first found fame as an original member of Atomic Kitten. The 45-year-old star, who spent part of her childhood in the care system, said the achievement is 'a dream come true'.

Chart Success and Charity Support

Writing in her new! magazine column, Katona expressed shock that the song, a reworking of Atomic Kitten's most famous track, had reached the Top 10. 'To say I am completely gobsmacked that Home Again has gone into the Top 10 is an understatement — I can't bloody believe it!' she wrote. 'What started out as a bit of a laugh with the intention of raising money for The Foster Care Charity has turned into something so much more and I'm thrilled.'

A portion of the proceeds from the single will be donated to The Foster Care Charity. Katona appeared on Good Morning Britain to promote the song, which she described as her only major publicity push. 'Given that was really the only publicity I've done on a big scale, I'm shocked and delighted that you lot have been downloading the song,' she added.

From Atomic Kitten to Solo Artist

Katona initially found fame as an original member of Atomic Kitten alongside Liz McClarnon and Natasha Hamilton. She released tracks such as 'Right Now' with the group but quit just weeks before their signature track 'Whole Again' became a hit. After leaving the band, she won I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!, starred in several reality shows, and published multiple autobiographies. Now, she has returned to her music roots with 'Home Again', which she said took her back to her girl band days. 'We grafted to get our first Top 10 single. So to do this now again on my own, it's a dream come true. Thank you,' she said.

Current Projects and Future Plans

Katona is currently on tour with Super Troupers, an all-singing, all-dancing show paying tribute to ABBA and the jukebox musical Mamma Mia!. Earlier this year, she teased the idea of collaborating with her best pal Katie Price on a duet. 'I'm so excited to go on the road with Super Troupers this year. I do Butlins, I do karaoke. I'm a performer, I like being on stage, making people laugh,' she said. 'I am not the kind of person who wants to go in a studio and do an album, but I think it would be hilarious if me and Katie dressed up as our ex-husbands to do a mash-up of Peter Andre's Mysterious Girl and Westlife's Flying Without Wings in jest. Can you imagine the music video?! We could donate the money to important causes — like people in refuges and those going through domestic violence.' Katona was married to Westlife star Brian McFadden from 2002 until 2006, while Katie Price wed Peter Andre in 2005 until their split in 2009.
