Katie Price: terminally ill mum Amy has just 'days' left

Katie Price has shared a devastating update on her mother Amy's health, saying she has just "days" left to live. The former glamour model revealed her mother is in hospital and said: "My mum's dying at the moment and I haven't been able to see her [because] I've got a cold… She's got days. I did promise my mum I'd see her tomorrow."

Mother's health battle

Amy, 74, has the lung condition Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), which she was diagnosed with in 2017. According to the NHS, IPF is "a rare condition where your lungs become scarred, making it harder to breathe". The health organisation says there's currently no cure, but treatments are available to help manage the symptoms.

Doctors had warned at the time of diagnosis that Amy had less than five years left to live. Last month, Katie admitted her fears that her terminally ill mother is "taking a turn" for the worse.

Family's day-by-day approach

Speaking to sister Sophie on their podcast, Katie said the family was taking it "day by day" as they didn't know what would happen with their mum's health. She said: "At the moment, we're playing it day by day with Mum. We're all juggling, depends how my mum is each day to what we do. Obviously if Mum takes a turn, Mum's more important than anything."

Sophie went on to say her sister's support is "going to go" when her mum passes. The siblings confirmed they had been spending a lot of time with their mum in hospital of late. Katie said the whole family had been "trying hard" to take care of their mum but that Sophie got extra "brownie points" as she had been going to the hospital more.

Katie's juggling act

Katie admitted she would go more, but struggled to as she had to work and take care of her eldest son Harvey, who has Prader-Willi syndrome, autism, and septo-optic dysplasia. She said: "When I've got Harv and I haven't got carers or anything every day - only a Monday and a Friday I get help - and it's hard to bring Harv. I've got to work, and I can't work if I've got Harv. It's just everything is a right juggle at the minute."

The update came as Katie took to the stand for the second day during ex-husband Kieran Hayler's trial. Hayler, 39, is accused of committing three rapes and a separate sex assault against a 13-year-old girl between June and October 2016, while he was married to Katie. He denies all charges.
