ITV Adds Acclaimed 10-Part Drama Daisy Jones & the Six with Night Manager Star
ITV Adds Daisy Jones & the Six with Night Manager Star

ITV viewers are in for a treat this month as the broadcaster has quietly added an 'incredible' 10-part drama to its streaming service. Daisy Jones & the Six, which originally aired on Prime Video in 2023, is now available on ITVX, allowing audiences to watch the series completely free of charge.

About the Series

Based on the bestselling novel by author Taylor Jenkins Reid, the series chronicles the rise and spectacular fall of a fictional iconic rock band set in the 1970s. The story is inspired by the real-life history of Fleetwood Mac and centers on the complex relationship between lead singer Daisy Jones and band leader Billy Dunne.

The lead roles are portrayed by Riley Keough, the granddaughter of Elvis Presley, and Sam Claflin, known for his role in The Hunger Games. The cast also includes Camila Morrone, who starred in The Night Manager, along with Suki Waterhouse, Josh Whitehouse, and Timothy Olyphant.

Plot Overview

The official synopsis reads: 'In 1977, Daisy Jones and The Six were on top of the world. The band had risen from obscurity to fame, and then, after a sold-out show at Soldier Field, they called it quits; now, decades later, the band members agree to reveal the truth.'

Critical Acclaim

The show has been highly praised since its release, with many viewers calling it better than the book. One fan shared: 'Discovered this little gem on Amazon Prime last week and ended up binge-watching the whole thing — it's that good. I haven't been able to get the music out of my head since. The soundtrack is seriously addictive.'

Another viewer wrote: 'It took me a year to finally watch this series. And what can I say? It's fantastic! The acting, the writing, the soundtrack, the costumes and the setting... simply incredible!'

A third commenter added: 'Music + drama. Is there a better combination? This series is one of the best book adaptations I've seen, so much so that I feel that it even surpassed the novel a bit.' One enthusiastic viewer remarked: 'Unmissable brilliance, it's actually hard to write a review that does this justice. You'll fall in love with each and every character, yes. The story is compelling, and whilst the end is revealed at the start, in no way will you see the end for what it really is.'

Possibility of a Second Season

Although there are currently no official plans for a second season of Daisy Jones & the Six, Sam Claflin, Riley Keough, and author Taylor Jenkins Reid have discussed the potential for more episodes. Claflin told TVInsider last year: 'The three of us, me, Taylor, and Riley, were just going, 'Why are we not doing a second season?' Apparently, at that time, there was a resurgence in this excitement around the project, and we started putting ideas together to try and come up with a Season 2.'

He added: 'We were talking about potentially doing a film and talking about potentially doing one long episode, like a Christmas special. It's not up to me, it's not up to even them, unfortunately. It's up to the powers that be. I think if enough people were screaming from the rooftop demanding a second season, maybe it would happen. But yeah, I don't make the decisions.'

Daisy Jones & the Six is now available to watch on ITVX.
