Call the Midwife actress Helen George has opened up about the tragic death of a boyfriend she had been secretly dating, revealing he was diagnosed with leukaemia and passed away shortly after they began their relationship.
Revelation on Mystic Mates podcast
Helen, 42, shared the news for the first time on the Mystic Mates podcast, which she co-hosts with friend and fellow actress Yvette Robinson. The podcast invites listeners into their long-standing conversations about mysticism and spirituality.
She said: "I had been dating someone who very suddenly got diagnosed with leukaemia. It was pretty serious from the start and he knew. The next day after that happened I had to fly out to the Bahamas to film the ITV shark documentary. I would call my best friend and sob down the phone about this lovely, beautiful man."
Clairvoyant readings and rose quartz
Helen explained that her late boyfriend now "comes through" in her clairvoyancy readings, saying: "He now comes through in my clairvoyancy readings – he's looking after me. I'd like to be a clairvoyant. I'd like to talk to dead people," she explained of her newfound appreciation for clairvoyants.
She recounted a reading where the clairvoyant said: "This is your ex-boyfriend, and he died very suddenly after you started dating him. He's come into the room because he's not very happy about your situation."
In a new episode of her podcast, Helen revealed she had invited the same clairvoyant again, and he came through once more. She recalled: "She was like, 'Oh, yes, okay, in a minute,' and started talking to this sort of thing in the room. And she was like, 'Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm just... I wanna talk from her nan first.' And then she said, 'There's this really impatient man that's trying to get through to me. He wants to speak to you.' And she said, 'He's a partner', and it was him again."
Details of the relationship
Helen shared that when he was diagnosed, she gave him a rose quartz, explaining: "I give those to people when they're not having a good time - and she said, 'He wants to give you this rose quartz. Will you take it?' And I never knew what happened to the rose quartz. I gave him a rose quartz, and I gave him some gloves and a hat for having chemo to keep him warm."
She added that she feels as though he is "wrapping himself" around her in protection, as the clairvoyant told her: "Now he's passed, he wants to put a blanket around you and look after you and know that he's there, and you've got to stop doing this to yourself, the repeated patterns".
Helen is best known for her long-running lead role as Beatrix "Trixie" Franklin (later Trixie, Lady Aylward) on the hit BBC period drama Call the Midwife. Earlier this year, series 15 of the hit BBC series aired with a heartbreaking and emotional finale as Sister Monica Joan was laid to rest following chronic kidney disease.
