Jessie Cave, who played Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter films, has revealed the warning one of her co-stars gave her after she joined the subscription site OnlyFans. The 39-year-old actress signed up to the platform, which is known for adult content, during a period of "complete desperation" after being rejected from another acting job.
Support from Harry Potter co-stars
Speaking on the Tea at Four podcast, Cave said she was asked whether any of her Harry Potter co-stars had shown support since she joined OnlyFans, which she said was heavily stigmatised. She recalled attending a Harry Potter convention soon after launching her page, where she met with a group of fellow cast members.
"There was a group of us together and we were all like in-between breaks talking about OnlyFans and joking about it and they were all helping me with ideas," she said. She singled out Devon Murray, who played Seamus Finnigan, and Evanna Lynch, who played Luna Lovegood.
Warning about leaked photos
Cave laughed as she recounted Murray's warning: "Devon in particular was like, 'You need to be careful about leaked photos.'" She responded by telling him it would be the "best thing ever" if he took part in a hair video with her, which he agreed to do on the spot.
"He's my favourite. Oh my God, I love him so much. And yeah, they were just so supportive. So supportive," she added.
Financial impact and boundaries
Cave, a mother of four, previously told The Times that OnlyFans "genuinely saved our lives" after she began earning from "hair content," where subscribers pay to see her playing with her long hair. She has stated that she made more from one year on OnlyFans than her entire acting career combined, and confirmed that she did make £15,000 in a single day.
She explained: "It was true on day one because it went so viral that people did subscribe but then they left within one day. They go in, they go out. So I probably did make that in a day but obviously I'm not making that every day and there are some times where my number of subscribers feel more like a group therapy session rather than like a successful business."
While insisting her content is not sexual, Cave acknowledged that subscribers may get sexual gratification from it, something she holds no judgement on. "You know, there's a lot of lonely people in the world," she said. "I've spoken to so many people from around the world now that are alone in the middle of the night and they just want something and it's like, if they are going to pay for my milk this week, great."
She set out her boundaries from day one and has stuck to them, adding: "I have explained very clearly on my bio what I do. If you don't like that, please leave. But you know, I'm not going to judge anyone for that." She said that when a new subscriber asks her to do something explicit, she has no problem blocking them immediately.
