Prince Harry's relationship with Earl Spencer has come under scrutiny following claims that the royal wants his uncle's help in honouring the memory of his late mother next year. Harry is reportedly in talks to make a documentary about Diana, Princess of Wales, to mark the 30th anniversary of her death next summer.
Expert cites money as main motivator
Royal journalist Tom Sykes has said he believes finances are the primary motivator behind Harry's unified front with his uncle. He told Page Six, "Money, rather than any deep emotional bond, is, I suspect, why Harry appears so close to the Spencer side of the family right now."
Mr Sykes also told the publication that the royal is trying to "woo" his uncle to assist with his reported plans for the documentary. He said, "There is no denying [Spencer] is a big name, and he will give the documentary credibility. So [the Sussexes] need to woo him and get him onside."
Documentary plans revealed
Sykes also shared insights into what he believes the alleged documentary will reveal, explaining that Harry will likely portray himself as "the true inheritor of Diana's legacy." Speaking of the alleged documentary, he added, "Harry will seek to identify himself very closely with Diana as this brave person who stood up against the cruel and heartless Royal Family."
Harry and Meghan returned to the UK at the end of August and have officially been back for one month. The couple are believed to be residing in the Cotswolds with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Recent appearances
Harry has made several appearances since his return, including several in the US, as he travelled back for work commitments earlier this week. Harry also stepped out in Canada on Friday, where he was caught on video parachuting from a plane north of Toronto to raise money for two veteran charities.
