Good Morning Britain was unexpectedly interrupted on Tuesday (August 18) when entertainment correspondent Richard Arnold broke into the ITV breakfast show with an announcement: the programme had been shortlisted for a National Television Award.
Richard decided the news was too big to share alone, so he opened the show's private group chat live on air and began calling presenters who were away from the studio. Susanna Reid, Ed Balls, Kate Garraway, Laura Tobin, and Jonathan Swain all joined the impromptu reunion.
Presenters join from holidays
Richard was joined at the desk by Richard Madeley and Ranvir Singh when he explained he had "some cracking news" and wanted to bring the GMB gang together. Susanna was the first to answer the FaceTime call, appearing from Ibiza. "Normally, what happens in Ibiza stays in Ibiza, but this morning, I'm on special duty for Good Morning Britain," she said.
Ed then joined from Norway, revealing he was staying south of Oslo and taking in the views from a fjord. The holiday catch-up quickly turned into a campaign as Richard revealed why he had brought everyone together.
NTA nomination revealed
Good Morning Britain has been nominated in the 2026 Daytime category, up against This Morning, Loose Women, and James Martin's Saturday Morning. Susanna was asked to make the case for GMB and declared: "Because we are absolutely the best daytime."
She shared that workers at O Beach in Ibiza were holding signs supporting the show. Footage and a photograph showed placards telling people to "vote GMB". Ed also encouraged viewers to vote, praising the changes made to the programme over the past year and calling the nomination a huge achievement.
Presenters' return dates
Susanna and Ed are currently away from the ITV breakfast programme and are expected to return in September, while Kate is due back in the studio on Wednesday. Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
