Welsh TV presenter Gethin Jones has shared details about his romantic history, from a high-profile engagement to a brief fling with a reality star, and ongoing speculation about a relationship with his co-host.
Early Career and Rise to Fame
The 48-year-old studied rugby union at Manchester Metropolitan University before launching his television career on Welsh language channel S4C, where he hosted children's shows like Popty, Mas Draw, and Uned 5. In 2005, he became the 31st presenter of the BBC's beloved children's programme Blue Peter. More recently, in 2020, he took on the role of host on the BBC's weekday magazine show Morning Live, broadcast from studios in Salford. He regularly appears alongside Helen Skelton, Michelle Ackerley, Gaby Roslin, and Janette Manrara.
Gethin has also appeared on Celebrity MasterChef, comedy drama Stella, and competed on Strictly Come Dancing during season 5.
Famous Ex-Fiancée: Katherine Jenkins
Gethin had a serious romance with Welsh opera singer Katherine Jenkins after they met in 2007 while he was on Strictly. They announced their engagement in February 2011, but by December of that year, they had parted ways. Reflecting on the breakup, Gethin said on Tom Bryant's Outdoors in Mind podcast: "I was engaged and then breaking up... it was just awful... I definitely had a bad bout of depression during that time." He sought therapy for a couple of years and continues to work on his emotional wellbeing.
Katherine has since married American painter Andrew Levitas in 2014, and they have two children together.
Past Romances and Rumours
Three years after splitting from Katherine, Gethin had a brief romance with former TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh in August 2014. Lucy later said: "We went out a few times a while ago but it was bad timing for both of us." Gethin also dated model Katja Zwara in 2017 and was rumoured to have been linked to First Dates waitress Cici Coleman, though neither relationship was confirmed.
Co-Star Romance Rumours
In recent years, speculation has swirled about a potential romance between Gethin and his Morning Live co-star Helen Skelton. Both have firmly denied the rumours. In December 2025, Helen said: "We just work together, we are not together... They printed pictures of us at work and that we're together because we are at work together." Gethin told The Sun: "We are very supportive of each other... you might need a little pep talk every now and then."
Morning Live airs weekdays on BBC One at 9.30am.
