The cast of the original Fast & Furious film reunited with Paul Walker's daughter Meadow at a special screening marking the movie's 25th anniversary. Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Jordana Brewster were among those in attendance in Los Angeles to watch the 2001 film, which first hit the big screen in June 2001.
Cast remembers Paul Walker
Meadow Walker, who was just 15 when her father died in 2013, was also present as the stars remembered the late actor. Paul Walker was in the middle of filming Furious 7 when he died on November 30, 2013. He was a passenger in a red Porsche Carrera GT driven by his friend Roger Rodas when the vehicle lost control at 100 mph, smashed into a tree, and burst into flames. The pair, who were on their way to a charity event organised by Paul, died instantly.
One of Paul's close friends, Jim Thorp, rushed to the scene and tried to pull him out but was pushed away by sheriff's deputies due to the danger of the 20-foot flames. Paying tribute, Thorp told the New York Daily News: "He lived his life and died fast and furious."
Meadow Walker's presence
Meadow is Paul's only daughter with Rebecca Soteros, a childhood friend with whom he had an on-and-off relationship. Meadow lived with her mother in Hawaii for 13 years before moving to California to live with her father in 2011.
Final instalment approaching
The reunion comes ahead of the eleventh and final instalment, Fast Forever, scheduled for a March 2028 release following production delays and reported budget adjustments. Vin Diesel, who is set to reprise his role as Dominic Toretto, shared a glimpse of the upcoming film on Instagram, writing: "You have no idea… When March 17th 2028 comes… you will thank God you got to see the first one in the theaters this summer. I just read the Fast Forever script by Mike Leslie. It is the best script I have read in decades. I am still crying…"
